Her long history in the craft industry has afforded her the opportunity to experiment with and become proficient in most media. Michele's favorite media has always been paper, whether molded, cut, pierced painted, folded, glued or torn. As a designer, she believes that there is no such thing as an ugly or useless piece of paper - just one that has not yet found its' way into the perfect project. Her love of paper takes on many forms: handmade paper, paper casting, collage and altered art. A major force in the craft industry, as a champion of designers and the roll they play Michele has been an active voice in the craft industry. She was instrumental in developing the (then) HIA Designer Section, has been a member of the Designer Section Council since its inception, and served 2 years as its' chair. Michele is the only person in the industry to hold 3 separate Certified Professional Teacher awards and was one of the first to obtain the Certified Craft Designer award. Michele is an award wining artist, with many of her paintings in private collections across the United States. In addition, many of her designs have been published in major magazines and books. Much of Michele's work has been influenced by her Native American heritage. You can learn more about Michele at MicheleEmerson-Roberts.com. |
